Membership in NAIW (International) is obtained
by utilizing one of three methods.
1. BY JOINING THROUGH A LOCAL ASSOCIATIONAn active member is an individual employed in the risk management or insurance fields, who belongs to one of NAIW (International)'s
nearly 300 local affiliated associations. This is, by far, the most wide-spread means of attaining membership; these members
enjoy the "hands-on" benefits they receive from belonging to a local group which meets regularly and provides
networking on a more localized basis. These members automatically belong to the international association through their
membership in the local association.

2. BY JOINING AS A MEMBER-AT-LARGESome individuals cannot or do not wish to belong to a local
association. Perhaps they travel and cannot attend local meetings regularly; perhaps they simply don't have the time
or interest in becoming involved in local projects and activities; perhaps there is no local affiliate in their geographic
area. For these persons, membership-at-large is the better approach. This membership category (as with the active membership,
available only to those employed in the risk management or insurance fields) provides a membership directly to the international
association only, with no local affiliation.
